This website

This website uses no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels. It sets exactly one cookie, which remembers the language you chose so the site opens in it next time. No account is needed to use anything here, and none of the tools — the chart, the converters, the quiz — send what you type anywhere. Conversion happens in your browser and the text never leaves your device.

Anonymous usage analytics are collected with PostHog, to see which pages people find useful and which sources bring them here. It runs in cookieless mode: it stores nothing on your device, builds no profile, and cannot link your visits together across days or follow you to other websites. What is recorded is the page, the approximate country, and whether a link to the App Store or Google Play was clicked. Since the one cookie is strictly functional and the analytics need no consent, there is no cookie banner to click through.

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and abuse prevention. Audio files are served from the same domain.

The app

The Bopomofo Master app can be used without an account. If you create one, it exists so your progress, streak and leaderboard position survive reinstalling and moving to a new device.

What is stored if you sign in

• Your email address, or the identifier returned by Apple or Google sign-in
• A username and, if you upload one, a profile picture
• Learning progress: XP, level, streak, per-game scores, and which symbols and characters you tend to get wrong

Accounts and progress are stored with Supabase. Purchases are handled by RevenueCat on top of Apple's and Google's billing — payment details are never seen by the app or by us. Anonymous usage analytics are collected with PostHog to understand which features get used.

What is not collected

• Contacts, location, photos other than one you deliberately upload, or microphone audio
• Anything sold or shared with advertisers — there is no advertising in the app

If you give us your email

At the end of the Before Taiwan program there is an optional form asking whether you would like occasional email about the app. It is genuinely optional: the whole program works without it, and nothing is withheld if you skip it. You have to tick the consent box yourself, because submitting a form is not the same as agreeing to be emailed.

If you do sign up, what is stored is your email address, the date, which page you signed up from, and where you originally came to the site from. It is kept in the same Supabase project as the app, it is never sold or shared, and you can be removed at any time by replying to any email or writing to the address below.

Buying Legend on the website

The pricing page also lets you buy Legend directly, without creating an account. That checkout is hosted by RevenueCat and processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card details. The only thing collected is the email address you give at checkout, which RevenueCat uses to send you a one-time link that activates Legend in the app.

Children

The Playroom is designed for young children and needs no account to use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a child has created an account and you would like it removed, email the address below and it will be deleted.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data or have your account and everything attached to it permanently deleted. Deletion is available in the app under Profile, or by email. Requests are handled within 30 days.
